Go! Super Baby!
Designer babies are babies that have their genes chosen for them by the parents like a fake baby. Instead of random genes from both parents coming together and finding the excitement of what kind of child you're going to rise and comparing who their child is similar to which parent, they try to create their own "perfect baby". This experiment is not only socially wrong but morally and ethically wrong. Basically they're like some sort of super baby that will grown up into a super person.
A social implication of this experiment is that people think its fine to re-create a baby. Some people think that if they're child doesn't have the right genes that fit on with the world they would be humiliated in society so some parents try out the experiment and re-crate their baby so that they are "fit" to be in this world. So that they are acceptable to this world. They expect their child to be a certain way, stronger, smarter more athletic then they were. The social implication with this experiment is that it is against our morals and our Christian religion to hand-pick and scientifically creates a human child. They might as well be a robot baby or a build a baby.
One of the main ethical implications of the designer baby experiment is that the baby has no regarded nor consent as to what is being done on them. Even though the percentage rate dropped of getting a disease of a designer baby there is still a chance that they might attain in. One of the scientists who specialize in designer babies said “The objection to the idea of designer babies is that it divorces procreation from the act of sexual congress, and there’s a real sense in which it is playing God,” which leads to the topic of no biodiversity in society leading up to a disaster that will befall us one day if we continue with designer babies. However, the technique is not limited to screening for genetic and heredity disorders, but is also used for cosmetic reasons.
Overall I believe that designer babies bring more harm then good. The advantages would be socially; they’re a super baby and will turn into a perfect person, ethically; it pleases the parents and it’s not harming anyone physically or emotionally. Although the many disadvantages would be socially and ethically; it is wrong to re-create a human and to play like the hands of God. It is wrong for the cycle of life, biodiversity, emotionally, ethically, socially and many other aspects. The disadvantages out-weight the advantages when it comes to this experiment which shouldn't have even taken place from the start. A real baby is better than a science based one.
